Our Clergy - Father Spiridon Morris
Father Spiridon Morris was born in in Metro-Detroit Michigan in December of 1994 to Peter and Evelyn Morris, and he grew up in Novi, Michigan. Fr. Spiridon was a member of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Farmington Hills since he was a young child. He attended Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in 2017.
It was at the age of 14 that he first began to feel the call to serve the people of God, but it was not until he was 19 that said calling was made fully clear to him. In the fall of 2018, he began seminary at Holy Cross School of Theology in Brookline, Massachusetts. During his time in seminary, he served the chapel as the Ecclesiarch, and was elected both to be the Treasurer of his graduating class for four consecutive years as well as the President of the Married Student Association. Fr. Spiridon would then go on to graduate with his Master of Divinity in May of 2022. After graduating from Seminary, Fr. Spiridon Morris worked in the office of the Metropolis of Detroit as the Assistant to His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas for one and a half years. Father Spiridon was Ordained to the Holy Diaconate on July 22, 2023, on which the church celebrates both the feast of St. Mary Magdalene, Equal to the Apostles, and St. Markella. He was Ordained to the Holy Priesthood on January 27, 2024 (the removal of the relics of St. John Chrysostom) and was assigned to St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bloomfield Hills on March 1, 2024.
Father Spiridon has been married since 2020 to Elaine Morris, who is a registered nurse in at St John Ascension Hospital in Detroit.
